Fibre Optic Splicing & Fusion Splicing
Core Precision provides specialist fibre optic splicing services for new installations, network upgrades, repairs and complex fibre projects.
Our team supports clients across the UK and worldwide with accurate, low-loss splicing for critical fibre environments. We work across data centres, rail, campus networks, petrochemical sites, residential installations and international infrastructure projects.
When your network depends on performance, the quality of the splice matters.
Specialist Fibre Splicing Services
Fibre optic splicing joins fibre cables together so light can pass through the network with minimal loss.
It is a skilled process that requires the right equipment, the right environment and the right experience. Poor splicing can cause signal loss, weak performance and future faults.
Core Precision provides precise fibre splicing for a wide range of network types and project needs.

Fusion Splicing for Reliable Performance
Fusion splicing uses heat to join two fibre ends together. The aim is to create a strong, accurate join with minimal signal loss.
Core Precision carries out fusion splicing for fibre networks that need consistent performance. This includes commercial networks, data centre fibre, campus fibre routes, industrial sites and transport infrastructure.
Our team works carefully to prepare, splice, protect and test each connection.

Ribbon Splicing and High-Density Fibre Networks
High-density fibre networks need a different level of skill and care.
Core Precision can support ribbon splicing work where multiple fibres need to be spliced efficiently and accurately. This is especially important in environments such as data centres, telecoms networks and large infrastructure projects.
Our team also has specialist training in SpiderWeb Ribbon® technology, making Core Precision well placed to support advanced fibre systems.
FAQs
What is fibre optic splicing?
Fibre optic splicing is the process of joining two fibre optic cables together to create a continuous optical path.
What is fusion splicing?
Fusion splicing joins two fibres by precisely aligning them and welding them together with an electric arc. It produces the lowest-loss, most reliable joint available, which is why we use it for permanent joints on commercial networks.
Can you splice high-density fibre cables?
Yes. We can support high-density fibre networks, ribbon splicing and SpiderWeb Ribbon® projects.
Do you test after splicing?
Yes. We can provide testing after splicing to check performance and support project handover.
What is the difference between fusion splicing and mechanical splicing?
Fusion splicing welds the fibres together for a permanent, very low-loss joint. Mechanical splicing aligns fibres inside a holder and is quicker to deploy but gives higher loss, so it is generally reserved for temporary fixes. We fusion splice for anything that needs to perform long term.
How long does fibre splicing take?
An individual fusion splice takes a few minutes including preparation. Project time depends on the fibre count and access, and high-count cables can be jointed far faster with ribbon splicing, where a whole ribbon of fibres is welded in one operation. We quote each project individually.
