Residential & MDU Fibre Networks

Core Precision installs, tests and maintains the shared fibre infrastructure behind multi-dwelling unit (MDU) developments: build-to-rent apartment blocks, purpose-built student accommodation, care homes and retirement living. Many units, one fibre network, delivered spliced, tested and documented for the developers, contractors and operators who answer for it.

MDU fibre installation for developers and operators

In a multi-dwelling building, every apartment, room and unit depends on one shared fibre backbone. Designed and installed properly, nobody ever thinks about it. Rushed or undocumented, it surfaces at the worst possible moments: at practical completion, when residents move in, or when an operator inherits a building with no reliable records of what runs where.

Core Precision delivers MDU fibre as one accountable package: backbone and riser fibre optic installation, fibre optic splicing at every joint, and testing that proves each connection before handover. We work for developers, main contractors, network operators and facilities managers across build-to-rent schemes, student accommodation, care homes, retirement developments and houses in multiple occupation (HMO) portfolios managed at scale.

Campus buildings connected by fibre routes

What we deliver in MDU environments

Riser and backbone fibre

Fibre routes from the building entry point and comms room up through risers to floor distribution, installed to a clear programme.

Unit and room connections

Individual dwellings, student rooms and communal areas connected to the backbone, spliced and terminated cleanly.

New build and phased schemes

Installation planned around build phases and trades, so fibre is ready when each block, core or floor completes.

Occupied building upgrades

Fibre upgrades in care homes, retirement living and tenanted blocks, planned around the people who live there.

Testing and certification

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing on every link, with results recorded so handover is backed by evidence, not assumption. See our OTDR testing service.

Fault finding and repair

Structured fibre fault finding for inherited or ageing MDU networks, locating the true point of failure before anything is replaced.

Working in occupied buildings

A care home or a tenanted apartment block cannot be treated like a construction site. Residents are living around the work, staff have a job to do and every hour on site is felt by somebody. The usual approach, building everything in place over days of corridor access, is the wrong tool for these environments.

That is why we build pre-manufactured assemblies in our own workshop before we arrive. Preparing, splicing and testing cable assemblies off site means less time working in corridors, plant rooms and communal areas, fewer visits and minimal disruption to residents and staff. On site, our engineers install, connect and verify with the building's routine in mind, then leave behind documentation the operator can actually use.

And when a live building loses a link that residents and management systems depend on, our fibre optic repair team diagnoses the fault and reinstates the connection.
